Oh I love the new weighted plush ideas. They're so cute, especially the gryphon and kelpie! The one thing I'd personally like is if the plush had an openable pouch for the weighted aspect. That way if someone wanted to use it as a weighted plush, they could have it filled with something weighted, if someone wanted it for warming purposes, they could stuff a warming pack in there, or if someone's got a magpie brain like mine, they can stash whatever random collection in the pouch. I imagine having the plushes themselves not actually be weighted would have an added benefit of reducing your shipping costs a but, though I admit I know nothing about this business.
I totally understand if this is not a direction you'd be interested in going in and I'd still be interested either way but I thought it was worth putting out there.
A pouch is definitely doable! Super weighted plushies also scare me thanks to shipping being such a crapshoot these days, but a pouch might mitigate some of that fear 😅
And maybe I can include a removable pouch inside the pouch, for things like rice/beans/other easily accessible options to add weight without making clean up a nightmare...much to think about!
honestly, it’s strangely hard to find a weighted plush that exceeds 1.5-2 lbs (while also matching my interests) I’ve been on the search for a good weighted one that’s more like 5 lbs (or more). Because heavier weights help me a lot more, the light weights don’t really serve the purpose I’m looking for in a weighted plush.
I bought one that said it would be 5lbs and they ended up lowering the weight once production started to make shipping cheaper (totally understand things change during production ofc), so I’m still searching 💚
Recently discovered Snughouls, just ordered my first (Krampus/RH Beezlebear) and I already bought some clothes for him and I'm going to literally learn how to crochet for him, I desperately needed a hobby that feels fun & innovative so the timing for this couldn't be better. I love your mind and everything you've put out here so far!!!
if Snughouls has a million followers, then I am one of them. If y’all have ten followers, then I am one of them. If y’all have only one fan then that is me. If Snughouls has no fans, then that means I died. And If the entire world hates Snughouls, then I am against the entire world from my place in hell!
Ooooooh the weighted plushies!!!! I really love the dragon. I hope they’re sparkly. I like the idea of a pouch, as Al Webb suggested. I could put a warmer in it and not need to stick the whole beast in a microwave/freezer! Plus, weighted plushies are never as heavy as I want them to be. I’m making myself excited just thinking about it.
Oh!! Is it possible to give them plastic claws or something like that? I used to have a gloomy bear plush that had hard plastic claws that were really fun to clack together. Looked great and made for an excellent fidget. I’ll probably get one regardless but that’d make it extra awesome for me personally lol.
Somehow I missed the weighted plush teaser on my first read-through. So glad I opened the newsletter up again! A semi-realistic, under-stuffed, floppy, weighted gryphon plush in a belly-lying position is *exactly* what I have been dreaming of. Down to the detail. I *love* the concept drawing--everything about it, including and especially the coloring. The little striped tail! What a great feature. I'm so on board. About once a week, I do a search for gryphon plushies hoping one day someone would manifest this weirdly specific desire of mine. This fulfills my dream. Bless you, bless you. I cannot wait.
On a similar note: I'm dying for a good Asian dragon plushie, and I *love* your drawing for this one. I'm obsessed. The little antlers, the mane, the big deer-like ears, the spattering of scales, the tail. Everything. This one would fulfill one of my other plushie dreams.
In answer to your questions: I LOVE this concept of a plushie line; I'd go broke for it. I would change NOTHING; these are so perfect. I'd also go nuts for a wolpertinger, too. But the gryphon and Asian dragon are the top two that I've been searching for in this kind of floppy, cuddly, belly-lying, weighted style. Incredible. I'm crossing my fingers so hard for these, I can't even tell you.
My only request with them would be: soft material for the long fur. I just got a Thistledown, and I love them so much!! But I find the long fur scratchy, and it sheds alarmingly. My only wish is for that to be softer and to shed less. (I love everything else about Thistledown. I honestly wasn't prepared for how much I would love them, or how soft they are. 😭)
